Princess Diana was remembered numerous times during the royal wedding of her son Prince Harry to Meghan Markle at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Diana, who was married to Prince Charles from 1981 to 1996, died in a car crash in Paris in 1997. Twenty years later there were obvious and subtle nods to her throughout Saturday's celebration.

1. Lady Jane Fellowes: Princess Diana's sister, who according to The Sun rarely makes public appearances, did one of the readings at the wedding. "Set me as a seal upon your heart, for love is strong as death," she said. According to Kensington Palace, all three siblings of Princess Diana attended the wedding.

2. Elton John: The couple picked the Grammy Award-winning singer and close friend of Princess Diana to perform at the reception afterwards, according to Yahoo Style. The princess and John worked together to raise money for AIDS research and awareness and John sang a reworked version of his hit "Candle in the Wind" at her funeral.

3. Markle's bouquet: The bouquet, made up of locally grown white garden roses, was known as Princess Diana's favorite stem, Yahoo noted.

"The white garden roses are a considered ode to Harry's mother Princess Diana … and have no doubt been sourced from the royals own Crown Estate and Windsor Great Park," said Lana Elie chief executive and founder of online flower market Floom.

4. Floral backdrop for Markle's entrance: Floral designer Philippa Craddock created the lavish display with Princess Diana in mind, per Yahoo Style, with the white garden roses, along with branches of beech, birch and hornbeam, as well as peonies, and foxgloves. The flowers positioned at the entrance of the chapel as Markle's entrance backdrop.

5. Wedding's final hymn: The couple chose the song "Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer," which was also played at Princess Diana's funeral, according to The Sun.

6. Cocktail ring: Markle wore Princess Diana's emerald-cut cocktail ring when the couple stepped out of Windsor Castle to head to their Frogmore House reception, Yahoo noticed. The ring – which was created by Asprey in 1997 – was worn by Diana several times, most famously at an auction of her dresses at Christie's, London, in 1997.

While many believed the empty seat next to Prince Williams during the wedding was meant as a tribute to Princess Diana, People magazine reported that it was actually to allow Queen Elizabeth have an unobstructed view of the wedding from the second row.
