A Tennessee Republican has refused to apologize for a controversial joke about pressure cookers that critics bashed as insensitive in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings. He said liberals reaction to it shows their hypocrisy
Tennessee State Sen. Stacey Campfield posted a photo to his website Monday of an "Assault Pressure Cooker" diagrammed with labels like "tactical pistol grip" and "forward carry handle." The caption on the photo read "Here comes Feinstein again," in reference to California Democratic Sen. Diane Feinstein's recently defeated proposal to ban military-style assault weapons.
Campfield was apparently trying to push his belief that guns (or pressure cookers) don't kill people, people do.

But people didn't appreciate the joke in the wake of last week's Boston bombing where the Tsarnaev brothers allegedly
used pressure cooker bombs to kill three people and injure more than 170.
"What kind of insensitive imbecile thinks it's okay to post a picture like this? Do you think it's a joke? Three people dead, one an 8-year-old child and you think it's something to laugh about? I really hope the people of this state start seeing who you really are and get your disrespectful sorry excuse for a human being out of the state senate!" one person commented on Campfield's blog.
Campfield later wrote a second blog post responding to the critics.
"If my post was inappropriate talking about 'crock pot control' then where is the outrage from the left when they push for gun control after the Sandy Hook shooting? I'm sorry if I exposed your double standard... Well, not really!"
Campfield also appeared on Piers Morgan's CNN program Wednesday and sparred with the host who criticized the lawmaker for the joke.

"[I was] really just pointing out the hypocrisy of the left, how they push for gun control 10 seconds after the Sandy Hook shooting and yet when something else happens they refuse to say, 'hey it's not an inanimate object, it's actually a person,'" Campfield told Morgan. "So when people like yourself go on and say, 'hey we gotta get rid of guns, we gotta push for gun control, it's just ridiculous. It's like pushing for pressure cooker control after the explosion."
