President Obama 'Mean Tweets': Jimmy Kimmel Bit Has New Target

By    |   Friday, 13 March 2015 11:28 AM EDT

President Barack Obama read mean tweets about his presidency on Thursday night's episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live," taking part in a show tradition usually reserved for actors and pop stars.

"From time to time, we give celebrities a chance to read some of the mean things people tweet about them and tonight we extended that same courtesy to our commander in chief," Kimmel told the audience, introducing the bit.

The camera's then cut to the president in a room all by himself, looking directly at the camera.

"Is there any way we could fly Obama to some golf course halfway around the world and just leave him there?" Obama said, reciting a post from a Twitter user named "RWSurferGirl."

"Well, RWSurferGirl," Obama responded, "I think that's a great idea."

In total, Obama recited a number of mean tweets directed at him, including one about his gray hair.

After the segment aired, RWSurferGirl tweeted again, criticizing Obama for chasing celebrity when he should be doing his job.

"Wait, so Obama couldn't make it to Ferguson, MO to calm down the situation [in which two police officers were shot] but could make it to Jimmy Kimmel in Hollywood tonight?" she tweeted
