The Power Rangers film under development by Lionsgate Entertainment has been pushed back to a release date of Jan. 13, 2017.
According to Variety, the film — announced in May 2014 — was previously slated for a summer release, July 22, 2016.
Now, creator Haim Saban will have six more months to craft the new Power Rangers movie, the story of which has remained largely under wraps thus far.
The premise is known, however, and is said to revolve around the original "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers," which itself was launched in 1993 as a live-action TV series for kids.
The Power Rangers have been relaunched on the small screen over and over since then, with the latest iteration being "Power Rangers Super Megaforce," which began airing in February.
The first time Power Rangers hit the big screen was in 1995, and several movies have been made since.
For the newest movie, the official synopsis states that the film features "a group of ordinary high school kids who find themselves infused with extraterrestrial powers and must harness those powers as a team to save the world."
The script is being penned by Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller, who worked on "X-Men: First Class" and "Thor."
