A little boy in a yellow shirt upstaged Pope Francis over the weekend when he jumped onstage in St. Peter's Square to hug the pontiff and then wouldn't leave.
It happened Saturday as the pope heard from Catholic families and gave a speech in St. Peter's Square. A little boy who had reportedly been seated with other children on the side of the stage ran up to Francis, hugged him, sat in his pope chair, and then just hung out.

At one point, as one parishioner walked forward to shake hands with the pope, the boy stepped between them as if to protect his new friend. Later on, he grabbed a young girl's hand and led her over the Francis, as if he had a special "in" with the man.
Cardinals and security personnel tried a few times to walk the boy off the stage but he refused.
