Actress Piper Perabo said she was among 70 protesters who were arrested Tuesday during the first day of hearings for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
The "Covert Affairs" and "Coyote Ugly" actress, 41, posted a video on Twitter showing herself among protesters being escorted out of the room after shouting.
"I was just arrested for civil disobedience in the Kavanaugh hearings," Perabo tweeted. "Many citizens before me have fought for the equal rights of women. I can’t be silent when someone is nominated to the Supreme Court who would take our equal rights away."
The first day of hearings was marked by loud protests, interruptions and arguments among committee members and an accusation that Democrats were trying to impose "mob rule."
It was unclear whether Perabo was charged or detained, USA Today reported, noting that she continued to tweet her opposition to Kavanaugh.
"Yes to Freedom. Yes to Justice. No to Kavanaugh!" she tweeted.
Disruptions, including 63 interruptions before the day's lunch break, caused a delay of more than an hour in the hearing, Fox News reported.
Capitol Police said 61 people were removed from one Senate office building and charged with disorderly conduct and nine others were removed from another office building and charged with "crowding, obstructing or incommoding," CNN reported.
