"Piegate" became the latest controversy on Capitol Hill when a member of the White House Press Corp questioned White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders' chocolate pecan pie.

Sanders, the daughter of former Arkansas governor and former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, posted on Thanksgiving that she had baked the pie with a photo of the item in question, Fox News noted.

April Ryan, the White House correspondent and Washington bureau chief for the American Urban Radio Networks, and a CNN political analyst, appeared to challenge Sanders on the authenticity of the pie in her own Twitter post.

While Ryan continued to correspond to those on Twitter, some using the hashtags #piegate and #fakepie, Sanders responded, promising Ryan a pie of her own.

Journalist Victoria Namkung charged that Sanders stole the pie photo from a PBS webpage, according to Gizmodo, but ended up deleting her original tweet and apologizing for the error.
