Petco Park was flooded after a rainstorm on Monday, leaving the home of baseball's San Diego Padres looking like a pond.
San Diego experienced a record amount of rainfall, which led to many power outages and a pond-like Petco Park, according to USA Today.
The park's condition sparked reactions on Twitter.
A spokeswoman for the Padres told Fox 5 San Diego that the rain was coming into the stadium so quickly that its drainage system wasn’t able to withstand the flooding.
Despite the fact that the park looked like a pond after the rain on Monday, the spokeswoman said field crews don’t anticipate that much damage was done to the field.
The park, which is usually seen covered by a green grass, was grassless when the storm occurred due to Monster Jam, USA Today noted.
The Padres are in the middle of spring training in Peoria, Arizona, and their season opener isn’t until April.
A flood warning was issued on Monday and lasted until after midnight, according to NBC San Diego.
Early Tuesday morning, a San Diego man was saved by a river rescue team, after he had been stuck hanging on to a tree as water moved rapidly, CBS 8 San Diego reported.
Emergency crews reportedly rescued about 30 guests who had been trapped for hours at a local hotel as well.
“It was emotional for me,” said Kelly Applegate, one of the guests who was rescued, according to CBS 8 San Diego. “I’ve been apart from my husband all night, I was terrified all night.”
Residents and tourists are being encouraged to stay away from areas that have been plagued with flooding.
