Pawlenty to Bernanke: I’d Dump You

Various Republicans have expressed displeasure with Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke since the financial crisis of 2008-09. And Republican presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty says that if he’s elected, he won’t nominate Bernanke for a third term, The Hill reports.

The former Minnesota governor says that the Fed’s monetary easing has gone too far.

“I opposed his appointment last time, so it wouldn't be hard for me to oppose his reappointment next time,” Pawlenty told CNBC's Larry Kudlow Tuesday.

“I don't think he should continue in that position," Pawlenty added.

Former President George W. Bush originally appointed Bernanke as Fed chief in 2006, and President Barack Obama reappointed him last year to a term that ends in 2014.

Pawlenty seeks to establish a strong economic policy platform. His view on Bernanke matches that of fellow Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul.
