Actress Paula Patton will star in ABC’s new drug cartel drama, "Runner."
The show is based on the Turkish series "Son" and features Lauren Marks, an architect, wife and mother, played by Patton, who follows a trail into drug cartels and the illegal gun trade after realizing her husband, who was believed to have died in a plane crash, wasn’t on the airplane.
“Runner” is Patton’s first regular role in a TV series. She has appeared in movies, including “Hitch,” “Precious” and “Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol.”
The show is set to
film in Chicago in March, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Adam Rodriguez, known for his role in “CSI: Miami,” will play the male lead in “Runner,” Deadline reported. He plays Troy, who may be the only person who can help Lauren, despite being hated by the family after the death of Lauren’s nephew.
The show is written by Michael Cooney and directed by Michael Offer.
