Paul Kitterman, the Denver Broncos fan that disappeared during last Thursday's game at Mile High Stadium, was found Tuesday more than 100 miles away with no sign of injury or foul play.
Fox affiliate KDVR reported that Kitterman, 53, may have walked the full 114 miles over a number of days. When found in a shopping center parking lot in Pueblo, Colorado, he reportedly spoke of traveling southward in order to get away to someplace warm.
Overall, the reappearance seems to be as mysterious as the disappearance.
Kitterman's family filed a missing persons report with the Denver Police Department when he disappeared at halftime on Thursday. His stepson Jarod Tonneson, 20, said that he came back from the restroom to find him gone.
The family had no way of trying to reach or trace him, as he didn't have his cellphone or credit cards — only about $50 in cash.
"It’s been a long bunch of days for us. It’s been a long bunch of days for everyone following this. And it’s been a long bunch of days for Paul," said family friend Tia Bakke, who was at the game when Kitterman disappeared.
"At this point all we can do is get him some rest, get him some food and move forward."
The family said that Paul had no history of alcohol or drug abuse, and no health problems. He is an outdoorsman, and knows how to survive in the wilderness, they noted. It's a mystery why he was walking south, as his home in Kremmling is northwest of the stadium.
On Tuesday night, Kitterman's family
released a statement on Facebook confirming his homecoming and asking for privacy.
