Olly, a 10-week-old Jack Russell terrier competing in the Crufts 2017 dog show in Birmingham, England, on Friday won the hearts of the crowd even though his hyper performance wouldn’t win him any performance medals.
The puppy ran the wrong way through the tunnel, knocked over a jump bar, and face planted when coming out of another jump. But he did everything with such enthusiasm that even the commentator complimented his energy and cuteness.
“Olly is totally crazy, as you can see,” the commentator said as the puppy ran in circles, chased by his trainer. “He’s having a ball.”
“Wrong way ... oh, it doesn’t really matter,” the commentator continued. “He’s all over the place, and so he should be.”
“What a nose dive, and he couldn’t care less,” said the laughing commentator after Olly crashes face-first.
“Oh, I love it,” the commentator concluded, as the dog ran off the obstacle course, chased by the trainer. “You’ll never catch him now.”
The performance reminded the "Today" show of Mia, the beagle from last month’s Westminster Dog Show in New York City who entertained audiences with her distracted run, where she stopped repeatedly to look around her.
