At 101 years old, Olivia de Havilland has sued the FX network over its portrayal of her in the miniseries “Feud: Bette and Joan.”

De Havilland filed the suit Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, saying she deliberately refrained from gossip during an acting career that spanned over 50 years, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In the show, Catherine Zeta-Jones plays de Havilland as a hypocrite who gossiped if it would make her look better, and implied de Havilland had a major role in the so-called feud between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.

De Havilland’s attorney, Suzelle Smith wrote in the complaint, “[All] statements made by Zeta-Jones as Olivia de Havilland in this fake interview are completely false, some inherently so; others false because they were never said. FX defendants did not engage in protected First Amendment speech in putting false words into the mouth of Olivia de Havilland in a fake interview that did not occur and would not have occurred,” THR reported.

De Havilland is the only living person portrayed in the show, and she says she was never consulted about what actually happened, Us Weekly said, even though the show was made to look real.

“Feud” creator Ryan Murphy told THR he did not want to seem disrespectful by asking the actress about her take on events.

De Havilland is suing for infringement of common law right of publicity, invasion of privacy, and unjust enrichment. She wants damages, profits gained from her character on the show, and to keep the network from further using her name and likeness.

Some on Twitter thought de Havilland was just after publicity in the suit.

Others thought FX and fellow tweeters should leave her alone or that she might have a case.

According to Radar Online, Bette and Joan were actually friends, which would make the entire miniseries fiction anyway.
