Obdulia Sanchez, a Californian teen, has been arrested for allegedly causing a fatal crash that killed her 14-year-old sister as she livestreamed the incident on Instagram.
It is reported that the 18-year-old was driving a 2003 Buick down Highway 165 under the influence on Friday evening when she crashed the car through a barbed-wire fence and flipped it into a field, according to Rolling Stone.
Her sister, Jacqueline Sanchez, was in the backseat with another passenger and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
Obdulia Sanchez reportedly livestreamed the entire incident on Instagram. The footage was also posted to Facebook by a viewer, The Associated Press reported.
The footage shows Sanchez losing control of the vehicle and then cuts to her standing in a field, speaking to the camera
“Hey, everybody, if I go to f***ing jail for life, you already know why,” she said.
“My sister is f***ing dying. Look, I f***ing love my sister to death. I don’t give a f***. Man, we about to die. This is the last thing I wanted to happen to us, but it just did. Jacqueline, please wake up. I f***ing killed my sister, I know I'm going to jail for life. I understand that. This is the last thing I wanted to happen, Okay, all right. I don't f***ing care though, I'm a hold it down. I love you, rest in peace, sweetie."
Obdulia Sanchez and the other passenger sustained moderate injuries in the crash.
She was charged for “suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and gross vehicular manslaughter,” according to Fox40.com.
Meanwhile, California Highway Patrol spokesman Wyatt Foster told BuzzFeed News the video would be used as evidence, adding that police were with the Merced County District Attorney's Office to determine what the exact level of intoxication was and whether Sanchez should face more severe charges.
