Obama Slogan: Forward! Gets an Exclamation Point

By    |   Monday, 29 October 2012 11:45 AM EDT

Today, President Barack Obama's slogan gets a bit more excited about things.

The president's campaign slogan has changed from "Forward" to "Forward!" Obama's spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki says the added punctuation reflects, "the stakes in this election and energy at our events."

While the added energy in the slogan is meant to "whip up Obama supporters into a voting frenzy," others have derived deeper meaning from the slogan, even before it got its added emphasis.

According to a Washington Times story posted in late April, the "Forward" slogan has supposed ties to Marxist beliefs and socialism.

The original slogan was unveiled earlier this year. Much simpler than "Yes We Can," the slogan "Forward" was released alongside a video, underscoring the president's accomplishments during his four years.

The added exclamation point to Obama's slogan is slated to stay for the remainder of his campaign.
