Gov. Nikki Haley: Mormon Faith Won't Hurt Romney in SC Primary

Monday, 09 January 2012 12:42 PM EST

Gov. Nikki Haley, R-S.C., insists her experience proves that Mitt Romney’s Mormon faith will not be a problem for him in the South Carolina primary, The Daily Caller reports.

“You’re talking to someone who was just elected in South Carolina as a 38-year-old Indian female,” Haley said after the New Hampshire GOP primary debate, according to the Caller. “Don’t think that’s a problem.”

Haley, who endorsed Romney and is campaigning for him, was born to Sikh immigrants and converted to Christianity when she was 24.
