Obama: Biden 'Got Out a Little Over His Skis'

Thursday, 10 May 2012 11:05 AM EDT

President Barack Obama said Vice President Joe Biden “got out a little over his skis” when he announced his support for same-sex marriage.

“I had already made a decision that we were going to take this position before the election and before the convention,” Obama said in an interview that aired Thursday on ABC’s Good Morning America. “He probably got a little bit over his skis, but out of generosity of spirit.”

Biden made his comment supporting gay marriage on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday.

“Would I have preferred to have done this in my own way, in my own terms, without there being a lot of notice to everybody? Sure,” Obama said. “But all’s well that ends well.”
