A nude man was arrested at a Planet Fitness gym Sunday afternoon after he stripped naked and began to do yoga at the New Hampshire establishment.
Eric Stagno of Haverhill, Massachusetts, was removed from the Plaistow location of the chain after multiple witnesses complained of feeling “uncomfortable, disgusted, sick, and unsafe,” police captain Brett Morgan said, the Boston Globe reported.
Stagno, 34, was charged with indecent exposure/lewdness and disorderly conduct, Morgan said. He was released on bail but must appear in court in September, the Globe reported. Some drug paraphernalia was reportedly found on him at the time of the arrest, but it wasn’t clear whether he was under the influence at the time of the arrest.
As he was being arrested, Stagno said he thought the gym was a judgment-free zone, an allusion to the Planet Fitness slogan, Morgan told the New Hampshire Union-Leader.
“It’s not a clothing-free zone,” Morgan responded, the Globe reported.
The gym was crowded at the time of Stagno’s visit and arrest, USA Today reported.
Stagno was not a member of the Plaistow gym, although he could have been a member of another gym; some types of Planet Fitness members can use any gym in the country as a guest, the Union-Leader reported.
Twitter users found the man’s story rather humorous.
