There is a "concrete threat" against Norway indicating a terror attack will take place within the next few days, the head of Norway’s intelligence service said Thursday.
Benedicte Bjoernland of Norway’s PST said that reliable information suggested an attack may occur from a contingent that has links to Syrian Islamic fighters.

“It was unspecific about what the target might be," Bjoernland said a news conference, adding that she hoped going public with what information PST does have would
help avert a terror attack on Norway, The Associated Press reported.
Bjoernland expressed concerns about people traveling to Syria and
returning to Norway with weapons knowledge and combat training, Bloomberg News reported. The threat comes from a “limited, relatively small group,” she said, and they are primarily extreme Islamists.
Police arrested three Norwegian citizens on terror charges in May, and approximately 50 people the country is concerned about left Norway to fight in Syria and about 25 of them have returned.
“Whether we’re talking about five days or seven days isn’t clear to us,” Bjoernland said at the news conference, Bloomberg reported. “It’s a threat limited in time, and this isn’t going to last until Christmas, to put it like that.”
Police and other emergency personnel are taking action, including increased scrutiny at borders and airports, as well as other areas, and also have made changes to procedures that reduce response times in emergencies.
“We wish to prevent potential events, and want to handle them as fast as possible if they happen,” said Johan Fredriksen, the district’s chief of staff, Bloomberg reported.
Last week, Norwegian citizen Anders Cameroon Ostensvig Dale was added to the U.S. State Department’s list of designated terrorists. He is a bomb-maker and a memberof al-Qaida in the Arabian peninsula.
