The Northeast is bracing for a Nor’easter that is expected to snarl holiday travel plans on Wednesday.
"All of the major metro areas in the Northeast will be impacted by either heavy rain or heavy snow, along with high winds,"
CNN senior meteorologist Dave Hennen said.
The storm could bring as much as
16 inches of snow to western Massachusetts, NBC News reported.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo tweeted an advisory to travelers planning to use Interstate 84, saying the state is prepared to close the interstate as early as 7 a.m. Wednesday.
That tweet followed an earlier posting in which the governor relayed winter weather safety tips.
The National Weather Service describes a nor’easter as “a cyclonic storm that moves along the East Coast.” A nor’easter can bring heavy snow and rain, gale force winds, rough seas, coastal flooding, and beach erosion.
