Nike Air Yeezy II "Red October," the long-awaited sneaker designed by rapper Kanye West, was made available online by Nike on Sunday, only to see the shoes rapidly sell out and take on a life of their own at online auction websites.
Nike made the announcement about West's "Red October" sneakers on Twitter.

Within minutes, though, Nike sent out second tweet.
"After what seems like a lifetime, the infamous 'Red October' Nike Air Yeezy 2 (were) released today via a Twitter link from Nike Store at 1:00 p.m. EST,"
wrote Jeffrey Jason, of KicksOnFire.com. "As expected, this Yeezy 2 release sold out in a matter of minutes leaving many sneakerheads jumping for joy! And of course it left tons of sneakerheads furious."
Resale of the sneakers online have been reaching four-figure and even five-figure prices, leaving other sports shoes in the dust.
"The Nike Air Yeezy 2 'Red October' sold for $245 on the Nike.com site," Nike's website said. "Nike has removed the product page completely from their site. Now guess what the Nike Air Yeezy 2 'Red October' is going for on eBay? Offers range from $3,000 to $10,000 for these sneakers. That is quite a premium."
Upset sneaker enthusiasts took to Twitter to express their disappointment over the way Nike handled the shoe's release.
