Seattle Seahawks rookie Kemah Siverand has been cut from the NFL team after he was reportedly caught on video trying to sneak a woman into his team's hotel. The female visitor was wearing team gear in an attempt to blend in as a player, according to the NFL Network.
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic means teams have been enforcing stricter rules to minimize outside contact. Siverand was in obvious violation of regulations set forth by the Seahawks, which attempt to isolate players during training camp.
Players are usually forbidden from bringing guests into team hotels, even during non-pandemic times, and it is not uncommon for teams to isolate.
Days before Siverand's bust, New York Giants head coach Joe Judge said he supported the notion to enforce stricter rules to ensure the focus remains on the bigger picture.
"If it was a non-COVID year, we would be trying to keep the team as isolated as can be just to keep the focus on what we're doing and build that training camp atmosphere," he explained, according to Fox News. "Our players can either opt in or opt out of a hotel stay. The ones that are in have a curfew. We've expressed to the ones on the outside that they have to make the right decisions when they are away from the building in terms of how they structure their nights."
