Kenny Britt, a former NFL star wide receiver, was arrested for possession of drugs over the weekend in Bayonne, New Jersey. Cops pulled the 31-year-old over in a traffic stop and discovered marijuana in his vehicle after a search, according to NJ.com.
Britt was charged with possession of 50 grams or less of marijuana and slapped with a summons for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle as well as obstructing passage of other motor vehicles, said Bayonne Police Capt. Eric Amato. Britt was released on a summons.
Britt's career kicked off in 2009 when he was drafted by the Tennessee Titans as a first-round pick. He stayed with the team for five seasons before moving on to the Los Angeles Rams. It was there that he had his best season in 2016, Yahoo Sports noted.
Britt then inked a four year, $32 million deal with the Cleveland Browns in 2017 but that same year he was cut from the team and was picked up the the New England Patriots. He has not played a game since 2017.
Throughout that time his career has been punctuated by run-ins with the law. In 2011 he was arrested for careless driving after he was caught traveling 71 miles per hour in a 50 mph zone then, a day later, narcotics officers charged him with resisting arrest, NJ.com reported.
He pleaded guilty and received a fine and 40 hours of community service.
