Gingrich Meets N.H. Tea Partyers, Calls Obama 'Most Radical' President

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich met with a group of tea party officials in New Hampshire as he continues to court them for a possible run at the White House, the Union Leader reported Wednesday.

He told the group that conservatives must lead the way to remake the United States government from the Office of the President on down to city hall.

Gingrich said the next presidential election will be decided on three issues: values, economics, and national security. The country is failing in all three levels right now, he said.

The size and scope of government should be cut back drastically, from cutting taxes to abolishing the federal Department of Education.

He also said more should be done on state and local levels. The government must essentially be run in a way that pushes self-reliance, he said.

"One of my proposals is going to be to replace unemployment compensation with a brand new model, which will be a work training program," Gingrich said.

Gingrich called President Obama the "most left-wing, radical president in history," who has failed to establish a cohesive foreign policy and not done enough to resuscitate the economy.
