Two newlyweds are dead after they crashed head-on into one another last week on a North Texas highway in a twisted tragedy that shook the small community of Odell.
Nicolas Cruz, 31, was traveling south on County Road 87 in Wilbarger County, Texas, Wednesday in a Mazda pickup truck when he smashed into the Saturn driven by his wife,
26-year-old Kristina Munoz, the Times Record reported.
Neither spouse was wearing a seatbelt and both were pronounced dead at the scene, according to local reports. The crash reportedly happened on the crest of a hill, though there were no skid marks, meaning neither driver applied the brakes.

"It appears speed and the layout of the road, including a hill crest, are going to be factors in the cause of the accident," Department of Public Safety Trooper Jymie Ha told the Record.
Cruz and Munoz had been married for about a year, a

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
"This is a very narrow, blacktop county road and there are no markings,"
Department of Public Safety Trooper Tony Fulton told KFDX.com. "There are no shoulder markings and there are no center stripe markings."
