A new video suggesting that Michael Brown may have been involved in a drug deal at a convenience store in Ferguson, Missouri before he was killed by police is dividing people on social media.

Documentary filmmaker Jason Pollock has suggested in his new film "Stranger Fruit" that Brown was collecting on a previous drug deal at Ferguson Market & Liquor and was not stealing from it before he was shot to death by Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson, said the New York Daily News.

Pollock attempts to make his case by highlighting a video of Brown visiting the store about 1 a.m. on Aug. 9, 2014, and placing a small bag that Pollak suggests is marijuana on the counter and taking a bag of cigarillos before returning them, said the Daily News.

Pollock argues in the film, which debuted at the SXSW Festival in Austin last weekend, that Brown took the cigarillos in a second visit as a trade for the marijuana, noted the Daily News. CBS News said store co-owner Andy Patel charged that Brown stole the merchandise, leading to his confrontation with Wilson minutes later.

Ferguson Market attorney Jay Kanzler argued that Pollock edited the video showing employees throwing back the bag and that no drug deal took place, reported the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Opinions on social media were as divided on the new footage as they were about the Ferguson shooting.
