A U.S. Navy pilot drew a lewd image of male genitalia in the sky while flying above Washington state on Thursday.

Officials with the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island confirmed the obscene image was from a Navy plane and said the action was “absolutely unacceptable” and “of zero training value” and that the crew would be held accountable, KREM reported.

The Navy also told Fox News the crew has been grounded and that a “thorough investigation” is being conducted.

“The Navy apologizes to anyone who was offended by this unacceptable action,” officials said in a statement to Fox.

Multiple photos of the skydrawing were sent to KREM, a local CBS affiliate, and some were tweeted by those on the ground who noticed the image.

One mother from Okanogan County complained to KREM about the images and said she didn’t want to have to explain them to her children.

The Federal Aviation Administration told the news station it “cannot police morality” and that it can’t act against the pilot and crew unless their act posed a safety risk.

Many who tweeted about the sky drawing found it humorous.
