a statement from the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command said.
The three other MH-60S Knighthawk helicopter crewmembers were "accounted for and stable," the Navy said.

The aircraft reportedly went down in the central part of the
Red Sea between Africa and Asia, according to San Diego's local CBS affiliate.
It's not yet clear what caused the crash, but an investigation is continuing.
"The crash was not due to any sort of hostile activity," the Navy's statement said.
The Knighthawk helicopter, which is based at the North Island Naval Air Station in Coronado, Calif., was operating from the San Diego-based
guided-missile destroyer William Lawrence, part of the Nimitz group, the Los Angeles Times reported.
