Thursday is National Taco Day, and Americans are flocking to restaurants and fast food chains in search of deals.
Americans ate 4.5 billion tacos last year — enough to span 490,000 miles and weigh as much as two Empire State Buildings, according to the National Taco Day website.
Free tacos are on offer at restaurants, including Chuy’s, Del Taco, El Pollo Loco, and Chronic Tacos for customers with some requirements such as coupons, code words or dressing up as a taco, Time magazine reported. Other locations are offering specials to mark the day.
Yahoo Finance rounded up some of the day's deals, including:
- California Tortilla — Buy one taco, get one free.
- Moe’s Southwest Grill — Loyalty program members can get a free taco when they purchase two from Thursday to Sunday.
- Qdoba — Rewards program members can get double or triple points.
- Red Robin — Limited-time offer of the Taco Tavern Double with Bottomless Steak Fries for $6.99.
- Taco Bell — Participating locations offer a “National Taco Day gift set” of four tacos for $5, including the Crunchy Taco, Fiery, Cool Ranch and Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos.
