A Phoenix mom accused of using a Taser to wake her son up for church on Easter Sunday is facing a charge of child abuse, Fox News reported.
Sharon Dobbins was arrested after she allegedly applied the device to her 17-year-old son's leg to jolt him awake, although the 40-year-old woman said she "only sparked the Taser" and did not actually use it.
"I did not touch him at all with the Taser," Dobbins told Fox 10. "I made the sound with the Taser."
Her son had a different story. He told police that Dobbins used the Taser on him but that he was not willing to testify in court, AZCentral.com noted.
According to court documents, there were two bumps on his leg where the device was used, but he did not complain of any pain.
Dobbins said she did not believe she had done anything wrong.
"You're supposed to put God first and that's all I was trying to do is tell my kids to put God first," she said, according to ABC News. "Nobody writes a book on the correct way of parenting. I tell my sons to honor thy mother and thy father or their days will be shortened and that's my favorite."
Following Sunday's arrest, Dobbins was released from jail on the condition that she not "initiate any contact with the arresting officer" or "possess any weapons, including a Taser," a judge said, per Fox News.
Her next court appearance is scheduled for April 16.
