Former Ravens cheerleader Molly Shattuck will spend 48 weekends in jail over the next two years on a child sex abuse charge, a Delaware court determined Friday at her sentencing.
Shattuck is accused of performing a sex act on a 15-year-old boy in
Delaware on Labor Day in 2014, WBAL-TV reported. Along with the jail time, she will have to register as a sex offender and pay the victim’s family $10,650.
The victim’s family had asked for incarceration, referring to Shattuck as a rapist because what she did was "devastating" for their son, WBAL said.
Shattuck, who pleaded guilty in June to fourth-degree rape, apologized to the victim and his family on Friday, crying non-stop throughout the sentencing hearing.
Delaware Online reported that Shattuck, a mother of three, contacted the boy on social media in May 2014 and arranged to meet with him. He was one of her son’s friends. The two met several times and, during the final meeting, she performed oral sex on him in a rented beach house.
Shattuck’s husband, Mayo A. Shattuck III, has filed for divorce.
The length of the sentence, as well as the fact that she will be serving time only on the weekends, horrified many who posted on social media.
