Mitt Romney says he keeps asking himself why he’s not running in the 2016 presidential race.
Romney is not impressed with the state of the presidential race and he voiced his thoughts about it on Wednesday, per ABC News, saying he often wonders why he’s not running four years after conceding to President Barack Obama in the 2012 race.
“I get asked on a regular basis, ‘Boy, why aren’t you running this year?’ I ask myself that a lot too. But I did that once,” said Romney. “All my life I wanted to run for president in the worst way, and that’s what I did.”
Romney said he was disappointed how the presidential debates went because they failed to address several policy issues that are affecting Americans today, according to The Business Insider.
“I’ve watched the presidential debates, I’ve looked at the give-and-take, there’s been almost no discussion of those things I’ve described,” Romney said, referring to policy issues like entitlement programs, income inequality and the national debate. “I don’t think either candidate for president has said they’re going to reform entitlements one way or another.”
Romney didn’t criticize either candidate publicly and declined to say who he would vote for. He’s on record saying he refused to vote for either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.
