Mitch Daniels: Avoid Riders on Spending Bills

Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels – who has been mentioned as a potential GOP 2012 presidential candidate – suggests House Republicans should avoid attaching legislative riders to spending bills, Politico reports.

mitch,daniels,riders,spending,bill,gop“As a general rule, it is better practice to do the people’s business, try to concentrate on making ends meet, which Washington obviously has failed to do for a long time – and have other policy debates in other places,” Daniels said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

House Republicans are headed for a showdown with Senate Democrats over the inclusion in budget bills of controversial riders, on issues like reproductive health, the environment, and healthcare reform.
