Mischa Barton, the actress who got her big break on "The O.C." at age 17, could lose her Beverly Hills mansion after failing to pay over $100,000 on her mortgage.
TMZ obtained a foreclosure notice on Sunday showing that Barton had skipped several payments, which triggered formal foreclosure proceedings. Barton's representative has yet to respond to a request for comment.
The house was purchased in 2005 for $6.4 million, and includes 8 bedrooms, 11 baths, and 3 guesthouses on 1.2 acres. Barton apparently took out a loan to purchase the home, totaling $4.2 million.

People magazine said Barton was "Once a Hollywood It Girl while starring on The O.C. from 2003-2006," and
Today.com noted that before that her rise to fame was fueled by appearances in films such as "Notting Hill" and "The Sixth Sense."
The actress ran into trouble, however, when she was arrested for DUI in December 2007. Eighteen months later she had what she called "a full-on breakdown" and was hospitalized on a psychiatric hold.
"It was terrifying," she told the magazine at the time. "Straight out of 'Girl, Interrupted.' Story of my life."
She attempted to sell the house, located in the Bowmont Estates gated community, in 2010 for $8.7 million, and relisted it again in 2011. She even tried to rent it out for $35,000 a month last year, but still no takers.
TMZ noted that Barton hasn't been working too much lately, but did play Ms. Monica in the TV movie "Gutsy Frog."
