Miron Construction Reaches $4 Million Settlement With FBI

By    |   Friday, 18 April 2014 12:50 PM EDT

Miron Construction Co. Inc., one of Wisconsin's largest builders, will pay $4 million to resolve an FBI investigation regarding how the company charged for labor in five of the state's school districts, according to the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel.

Citing documents released Wednesday, Miron promised to change some of its billing practices and operate with oversight from an independent party. The three-year agreement says neither Miron nor the two top-ranking executives who signed the deal admit or deny the allegations, though they can be used as evidence if the agreement is violated, according to the Journal Sentinel.

On Wednesday, the U.S. Attorney's office announced a "non-prosecution" agreement was signed by Miron officials in February, after years of investigations and negotiations between Miron and the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

The company employs nearly 1,200 people. U.S. Attorney James Santelle said that his office agreed to the non-prosecution deal partly to spare the company's employees "who were uninvolved in and unaware of the allegations," the Journal Sentinel reported.

Founded in 1918, Miron recently landed a $145 million renovation contract for Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers. The project includes adding about 6,700 new seats, two new gates, a rooftop viewing platform, two new HD video boards, and a new sound system.
