Mike Wallace, veteran NASCAR driver, was attacked along with his daughter after a Rascal Flatts concert on Friday in Charlotte, North Carolina, and three men were arrested in connection with the incident.
Motorsport.com reported that Wallace, 57, and his daughter, Lindsey Wallace Van Wingerden, whose age was not given, were leaving the concern at the PNC Music Pavilion when they were jumped in the parking lot, Wallace said in a Facebook post.
Paul Lucas, 29, was arrested Friday night and charged with assault on a female. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department arrested Nathan Lucas, 22, and Randolph Mangum, 24, early Saturday and charged them with simple assault.
Nathan Lucas and Magnum were reportedly both released on a $1,000 bond, while Paul Lucas was released on a $1,500 bond.
"What's worse is three of guys that beat my family up were arrested and out of jail before we were out of the hospital," Mike Wallace wrote in his Facebook post. "… Everyone please be careful in the future and take care of your friends that you go somewhere with."
Wallace told WSOC-TV that he lost three teeth and received 12 stitches from doctors. His daughter said the incident shattered her sense of security.
"It scares us to think we can't even go to a concert together without someone going to attack you or what's going to happen next," Wallace Van Wingerden told WSOC-TV. "The physical side is going to heal. The bruises are going to heal. There's doctors gonna fix things, but now it's the emotional parts. You see these flashbacks knowing there are people out there."
Kenny Wallace, also a NASCAR driver,
posted a photo of his brother on Facebook after the incident on Saturday.
"I am 'tore up' and 'sick to my stomach' about my brother 'Mike' and his daughter Lindsey Wallace Van Wingerden and everyone involved in this senseless ass beating after a concert in Charlotte (North Carolina) on Friday night," Kenney Wallace wrote on Facebook.
"My brother Mike laid on the ground 'knocked out' and it was not even a fight and three men kept kicking my 'knocked out' brother in the face. Think about it? My brother was knocked out and they were kicking him in the face."
