Michelle Knight, one of the three women held captive for more than a decade inside the Cleveland home of Ariel Castro, notched another accomplishment on Tuesday with the release of her new song and music video, "Survivor."
"What doesn't kill me makes me stronger. If I hold on a little longer. And when my hope fades away, they keep the light on," she sings in the new single, now available on iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon. "My angels keep me awake. I'm a survivor."
Knight's lyrics, which came from writings she made while under Castro's control, were transformed into a song with the help of Aaron "D-Boyy" Dissell, whom she met at a concert.
Cleveland TV station Fox 8 helped her film a music video for the song.
The pop anthem features R&B stylings, and follows the release of her best-selling book, "Finding Me," a stint at cooking school, and an appearance on the "Dr. Phil" show.
Knight was kidnapped in 2002 at the age of 21, and was held captive with subsequent kidnap victims Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus. All three escaped in 2013.
