Michael Keaton got back at a heckler who was taunting his favorite Pittsburgh Pirates at a game Friday night, pointing to the scoreboard and yelling to defend star Andrew McCutchen.
Keaton, the former "Batman" actor who starred in the Academy Award-winning movie "Birdman," is in the Atlanta area shooting "The Founder," a film about McDonalds' Ray Kroc, when he visited Turner Stadium to see his beloved
Pirates take on the Braves, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Keaton was in a good mood after Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle gave the Oscar-nominated actor a signed baseball from Pirates pitcher A.J. Burnett.
"He was really gracious with fans as he was leaving, posing for pictures and signing autographs," a witness at the stadium told the Journal-Constitution.
But a heckler who had been giving Pittsburgh all-star outfielder McCutchen a hard time all game
finally caught Keaton's attention, reported Deadspin.com. The heckler was so boisterous that McCutchen himself took a little dig, leaving the fan a batting glove after slapping a run-scoring double in the eighth inning.
An impromptu visit from Keaton near the end of the game then really sent the heckler's baseball evening over the top.
"After the slick taunt from McCutchen, the heckler got hit with a 'scooooooooreboard' point from . . . Batman," Deadspin noted.
Fans in attendance and on social media posted pictures, showing their appreciation for Keaton's fandom.
The Pirates went on to defeat the Braves 10-8.
