Michael Bublé followed through on his plans to put his career on hold to deal with his son’s cancer diagnosis by officially cancelling his performance at the BBC Music awards on Dec.12.
The cancellation was announced on the BBC Radio 2 show by DJ Steve Wright, with director Bob Shennan adding, “We send Michael and his family our very best wishes.”
On Nov. 4, Bublé announced on Facebook that his 3-year-old son Noah was undergoing cancer treatment in the United States, and that both he and his wife Luisana Lopilato planned to pause their careers to devote themselves to his treatment.
“Luisana and I have put our careers on hold in order to devote all our time and attention to helping Noah get well,” he said, also asking for privacy and thanking family, friends and fans for their support.
The music awards show is scheduled to take place at London’s ExCel auditorium with appearances by Lukas Graham, Emeli Sande, and the Kaiser Chiefs, People reported.
There is no word on whether Bublé will follow through with hosting the Brit Awards or the June Awards as he had planned prior to the diagnosis, but Celebuzz expects that he will cancel those as well.
Bublé is originally from Canada and his wife Lopilato is from Argentina where she is a singer, model, and television actress.
Support for the family has poured in from all around the world, with thousands of social media responses filled with encouragement, prayers, and hopeful stories of healing.
