Miami-Dade police officer Julian Padron stunned his girlfriend with a proposal at his graduation ceremony on Thursday, and she said yes, Inside Edition noted.
The newly sworn-in officer was obviously gunning to make the day a memorable one and, while graduating from the police academy would top most lists, Padron took it a step further by dropping to one knee in front of a packed hall.
His new fiancee did not suspect a thing.
In a video clip posted to Facebook, she can be seen seated in the audience while Padron stands in the aisle alongside her during the ceremony.
Then suddenly he turns to her, drops to one knee and pulls out a ring.
His girlfriend appears to be surprised, but without hesitation, she says yes and the two embrace as the crowd cheers them on.
"He got a shiny new badge. She got a shiny new ring," the police department said on Facebook.
Police officers seem to have a knack for staging dramatic proposals.
Last month Port St. Lucie police officer Matt Aubert proposed to his girlfriend during a SWAT Demo, and she accepted, The Miami Herald reported.
In another incident, Miami police officer Henry Ortega proposed to his girlfriend after being awarded "Officer of the Month" recently, KSTA said.
However, possibly the most memorable proposal came from an Alabama's Daiwon McPherson who went as far as to stage a full police chase to propose to his girlfriend.
It started with him ditching her for dinner and culminated with his girlfriend finding him surrounded by police officers who had their guns drawn and fixed to him.
Except they were not real guns at all and, when one officer ordered McPherson to get down to the ground and began searching through his pockets, he pulled out a ring box and proposed.
