Meiling the panda wrestled a zoo intruder to the ground after the man entered the bear's enclosure to try to impress two women. The showoff's comeuppance in Nanchang, China was captured on video.
Meiling and the intruder were unharmed in the incident, said the BBC News, but the panda badly tore the man's pants, according to The Telegraph.
The Telegraph said the man was caught on surveillance camera entering the panda's exhibit, climbing over a roughly four foot-high fence and jumpingover a 10-foot deep ditch.
"The young man left the zoo right after he escaped and we could not get in touch with him," said Kuang Huaming, the deputy head of zoo management, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corp. "On the other hand, we also arranged medical checks for the panda and told the breeders to closely observe its condition. So far the panda is fine."
A zoo manager told Jiangxi Television the man could have suffered serious injuries tangling with Meiling, a 12-year-old panda.
Many on social media appeared to take the panda's side.
