Connecticut Republicans are angry over GOP Senate candidate Linda McMahon’s latest television ad, which makes a direct appeal for votes to supporters of President Barack Obama.
According to the Connecticut Post, McMahon’s ad features a handful of voters who say they’re splitting their ballot to help re-elect Obama and at the same time send McMahon, the Republican U.S. Senate nominee, to Washington.
McMahon's campaign says it has no intention of pulling the ad, despite the outcry.
"The ad is very effective," said spokesman Todd Abrajano.
The ad doesn't specifically identify a party affiliation, but some Republicans say it leaves the impression that McMahon supports Obama.
State GOP Chairman Jerry Labriola acknowledged the complaints, but said he knows for certain that McMahon is a strong Mitt Romney supporter.
Democrats have also complained about the ad, describing it as an effort by McMahon to hide the fact that she and Romney share some of the same right wing positions.
