The McCaughey septuplets of Carlisle, Iowa, turned 16 on Tuesday.
The famous group of siblings, who in 1997 were born nine weeks prematurely to Kenny and Bobbi McCaughey, were the
first set of septuplets to survive infancy, ABC News reported.

In an interview with the Des Moines Register, the famous septuplets – Kenny, Alexis, Natalie, Kelsey, Nathan, Brandon, and Joel – discussed what it was like growing up with six siblings of the same age.
"I'm never bored, because I always have seven siblings to hang out with," Kelsey McCaughey told the Des Moines Register. "And I'm really close with all of them."
'It's pretty crazy, but also its really great, 'cause you never really have to worry if you're alone or anything, because there's always somebody to hang out with, so you're never lonely," Kenny McCaughey added.
Not everyone, however, was thrilled about being a septuplet.
"Its kinda cool, but in other ways it can be nerve racking," Nathan McCaughey said, referring to the apparently unwanted celebrity status that comes along with it.
In addition to agreeing that they would always be there for one another, one sentiment all the septuplets shared was an enthusiastic anticipation of being able to drive at 16 years of age.
In an interview with the Christian Post, father Bobbi McCaughey recalled that he "will always remember the day we found out there were so many."
"It wasn't like 'yahoo!' There were so many doubts. To a lot of people this might sound trite, but God determined the outcome," Bobbi added. "We've built a good foundation that wouldn't have happened had that situation not occurred. So the message is let God use you. It doesn't have to be something that makes national news."
