A new tattoo for Chilean soccer player Maurice Pinilla commemorates his World Cup shot that bounced off the crossbar during extra time against Brazil and led to a loss that sent his team home from the tournament.

The tattoo depicts the missed shot with the words "One centimeter from glory" beneath it, said Yahoo Sports. Pinilla also had the words "Blessed" and "For Life" tattooed on his head.

Chile lost the game in a penalty shootout.

Brazil beat Chile in each of the three previous World Cups in which they competed: 1962, 1998, and 2010.

Chile exceeded expectations in the World Cup, beating the reigning world and European champions Spain 2-0.

Twitter users were shocked the soccer star would want a permanent reminder of his heartbreaking missed goal.
