Matt Lauer reportedly has been booted from the family home in the Hamptons by his wife who could be planning to file for divorce, the New York Post's Page Six reported.
The embattled former NBC "Today" show anchor has been dogged by allegations of "inappropriate sexual behavior" that led to his firing at the network, the tabloid said. Former Dutch model Annette Roque, Lauer's wife for almost 20 years, shared the Hamptons home with the couple's three children, a source told Page Six.
The Daily Beast reported Lauer, at the time NBC’s highest paid star at a reported $20-$25 million per year, was fired in November after initially being accused of sexually harassing an intern at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. More women came forward after the Sochi charge.
Lauer is hardly out in the streets. He owns a $36 million compound in North Haven, a house in Sag Harbor and a 40-acre horse farm in Water Mill, Page Six stated. A source told the newspaper that Lauer is staying close so he can share time with the children.
The source told the Post that while Lauer and Roque have lived separate lives for about 10 years, Lauer, 60, has been trying to save the marriage but Roque has been "very cold." The Post said that Roque had been living on the couple's Long Island properties while Lauer lived in their Park Avenue apartment during his time at "Today."
The Post said Roque had previously filed for divorce from Lauer in 2006, citing "mental abuse, extreme mental and emotional distress, humiliation, torment and anxiety," but withdrew the filing weeks later after he offered her a postnuptial agreement and millions more dollars, a source told Page Six.
