Matt Lauer has sold his Manhattan apartment for above the asking price of $7.35 million, making a profit of millions on the four-bedroom, Upper East Side spread.
Lauer put the 11-room apartment up for sale in March following his November 2017 firing from the "Today" show for inappropriate sexual behavior toward co-workers and staff members at NBC, Entertainment Tonight reported.
Before his firing, Lauer was thought to be the highest-paid TV news personality, earning a reported $25 million per year, Fox News reported. Lauer bought the apartment with his now-estranged wife Annette Rocque for $5.8 million in 2005.
The buyer of the home is unknown along with the exact selling price, Fox News reported.
The apartment also has four-and-a-half bathrooms, a library, and views of lower Manhattan, Fox News reported. The master bedroom has two dressing rooms and two bathrooms.
Lauer has been spending most of his time at his Long Island estate in the Hamptons recently as his wife has been mostly in The Netherlands with two of their children while the eldest son is in boarding school, ET reported.
In an interview last month, Lauer said the allegations against him don’t represent the full “circumstances of the situation” as he discussed another piece of land he owns in New Zealand that authorities there may be looking to take away from him because of regulations requiring foreign buyers of key assets to have good character, Fox News reported.
Lauer declined to give any more details about his firing, saying, “I’m not at liberty to talk nor would I want to talk about that,” Fox News reported.
