A twitter war has erupted between Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Dallas radio host Mark Davis, who have been arguing since Sunday about athletes taking a knee during the national anthem.

Davis said Cuban was being hostile after the entrepreneur told him to get lost for a tweet stating he would not back the Mavericks if any of the players protested the national anthem. As things escalated, Cuban challenged Dallas to stand up to his bosses and ask them to play the national anthem at his job! Then Sen. Ted Cruz got involved.

In the tweet that sparked the whole ordeal, Davis wrote:

"I am so ready to be in on this year's #Mavericks home stretch: so much promise, so much personality. But the minute one player kneels during the anthem, I am OUT. Surely @mcuban can lead the way for #Mavs, #NBA to do whatever gesture they wish without insulting the nation."

Cuban had a simple but efficient response: "Bye." He did not leave it there though.

"The National Anthem Police in this country are out of control. If you want to complain, complain to your boss and ask why they don't play the National Anthem every day before you start work," Cuban wrote in another tweet aimed at Davis.

"Bizarre answer," Davis retorted on a tweet on Monday. "And 'national anthem police' Really? The pregame anthem has been a tradition for years, embraced by millions, now under fire by activists. I'm open to a pregame kneeling moment that does not insult America. To be met with this hostility does not bode well."

Cruz decided to join the feud with his own opinion on the matter.

"Really??!? NBA is telling everyone who stands for the flag, who honors our cops and our veterans, to 'p--s off'? In Texas, no less? Good luck with that," he wrote in a tweet that included a screenshot of one of Cuban's tweets.

Cuban was quick to take a swipe back at Cruz.

"Have some balls for once @tedcruz. Speak to me. It's my tweet," he wrote.
