After 65 pounds of marijuana showed up inside a Florida couple's Amazon order for plastic storage bins, police are trying to figure out how the pot got there.
The Orlando, Florida, customers, who did not want to be identified for safety reasons, notified police as soon as they opened the package.
“When the first officer got here, she was in disbelief,” the customer told WFTV.
Police took custody of the drugs and are investigating how they got into the package, which came via UPS from a facility in Massachusetts.
The couple told WFTV they spent a few nights away from their home out of fear that someone would come looking for the marijuana, and would like Amazon to apologize and explain how something like this could happen.
“We were still pretty fearful our home would be broken into,” she told the news station, adding that after a month of trying to contact Amazon, she and her fiance were never able to speak to a supervisor.
They finally received a gift card for $150 with an email message, “I am unable to do anything else at this time,” WFTV reported.
“There was no concern for a customer’s safety,” the customer added. “I mean, this could have turned into a worst-case scenario.”
Police in Orlando have not yet made any arrests and say their investigation into the strange delivery is ongoing.
Some Twitter users wished they’d get a package full of marijuana from Amazon.
