Madden Landicho can name every country in the world alphabetically in four minutes, and he is only 6 years old.
Madden, who lives in Winnipeg, Canada, can get them all, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, and can even identify each country’s flag, The Washington Post reported. Madden's mother Kristy said her son just completed kindergarten, but he started learning the names of the countries when he was 3 by watching YouTube videos over and over again on his phone.
“Before we knew it,” his mother told the Post, “he was reciting the whole world to us.”
“I never thought I was going to be a parent that would give their kids a phone,” Kristy Landicho said. “It’s awesome that he’s actually learning from it as opposed to just watching random cartoons.”
A video of Madden reciting the countries went viral after the Daily Mail posted it on their website.
Kristy Landicho told CBC in an interview that she had been told by others outside the family to share her son’s amazing skill.
“People have been telling us for a couple years to get it out there, his knowledge. And I never really thought of it and then finally last year, yeah, we sent it to a couple places and people are just so impressed with him.”
Madden said he started learning the names of the countries “because they’re so awesome,” CBC reported.
He has also learned some of the names of U.S. states and their capitals.
Madden said he wants to be a pilot when he grows up.
