Maci Lilley was found alive on Sunday, her birthday, two days after the 5-year-old girl was reportedly abducted from a Montana Indian reservation.
The Roosevelt County Sherriff's Office said the girl was abducted in the Wolf Park area on Friday, reported the
Missoulian. Roosevelt County spokesman Lee Allmer said she was located about 11:20 a.m. Sunday.
WFBB-TV said she was found by Undersheriff Corey Reum on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation a few miles north of Wolf Point, Montana.
KTVQ said Lilley had received medical treatment after she was found but officials declined to give additional details.
"Maci was found … a few miles outside Wolf Point," Roosevelt County Sheriff Jason Frederick posted on
Facebook. "Preliminary observations indicate she is in good health, but she is being evaluated by medical personnel to be sure."
"Maci's family has been notified and she will be reunited with them soon. More information will follow as it's available," said Frederick.
Frederick said in a separate Facebook post that the case remained under investigation by law enforcement officials.
"This is still a criminal investigation, however, so great care must be taken to ensure justice is served and those responsible for Maci's abduction are held accountable," he said. "This means investigative protocol must to be followed so that evidence is properly collected and preserved. A large number of law enforcement officers from several different agencies are in Wolf Point working on the search and carefully considered plans have been laid out."
Frederick said a suspect in the case had been apprehended.
KTVQ-TV said the FBI had taken control of the investigation before the girl was found.
